I have been working as a clinical psychologist since 2010 across a range of public, private, youth, and adult mental health settings. I have experience working with individuals, groups, and couples. I have trained in a range of therapies including:
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (‘ACT’)
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Dialectical Behavioural Therapy
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy
Compassion Focused Therapy
Prolonged Exposure
Schema Therapy
Motivational Interviewing
My passion, both personally and professionally, is with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. “ACT” is a versatile model that I use to work with clients across a broad range issues. ACT is informed by rigorous scientific research and ethical and philosophical ideas about human behaviour, cognition, mindfulness and values. I help teach the ACT model to clients so they too have a foundation to approach life’s inevitable challenges with.
I work to create a trusting relationship with my clients by being genuine, warm and honest. I focus on building trusting relationships to help my clients find the change they want. Though I understand that change can be difficult, change is a process that enriches lives and decrease suffering in the long term.
I have particular interests in helping people with:
Adjustment to life events
Anxiety
Body image and eating issues
OCD
Psychotic-spectrum disorders
Relationships
Trauma and PTSD
More broadly, helping all my clients to find meaning and purpose in their lives.
I happily work with people of any culture, race, gender, sex, or body type and I do not assume to understand anyone’s particular situation. Instead, I seek to understand my individual clients and their context as best I can.
I also work with individuals who wish to explore any drug-related experiences and non-ordinary states of consciousness. This can be useful for both positive and negative drug-related experiences. Please note this is not psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy.
I enjoy working as an accredited, board-approved psychology supervisor and also facilitate an ACT peer supervision group. Outside of work I am a dad, partner, camper, nature-lover, cyclist, gardener, backyard barista and baker.
